Hardik Pandya, the third captain to be traded in the history of IPL

According to reports, India’s all-rounder Hardik Pandya is all set to shift his way from Gujarat Titans to Mumbai Indians ahead of the upcoming IPL 2024 season. The Mumbai Indians are trading Hardik Pandya for a magnificent fee amount, nearly to 15 crores ($ 1.8 million approx.). This is one of the biggest cash trades in the history of IPL with Hardik Pandya being only the third captain to be traded.

The deadline for trading window and retention is set to be closed soon ahead of the upcoming season and within this deadline, all the franchises have been accommodating their players with effective and utmost consideration and priority. The deal has been already put to place, and if things align with each other, Hardik Pandya will make his way back to his home team i.e Mumbai Indians.

Pandya’s IPL journey

Hardik Pandya embarked on his IPL journey by becoming a part of the Mumbai Indians in the year 2015, and then moved to Gujarat Titans leading them on the path of victory in the 2022 season. If Hardik moves to his home team again, this will be considered as one of the biggest and shocking trades in the history of IPL. Pandya has been in a mindblowing form for the Titans as he led the team on the winning side on the debut year itself, in 2022 and again led the franchise in the 2023 season by competing against CSK in the finals.

The 3rd captain to be traded

Well, this is not the first time an IPL team’s captain is being traded. Earlier, Ajinkya Rahane and Ravichandran Ashwin were also traded by Delhi Capitals in the year 2020. While Rahane was bought from Rajasthan Royals, Ashwin was bought from Punjab Kings. In the 2020 season, Delhi Capitals reached the final knockout stage against Mumbai Indians but unfortunately couldn’t emerge victorious.
