The Beatles’ autographs and McCartney’s plectrum up for auction

A book of autographs that includes signatures of all four of The Beatles is set to be auctioned.

The book, with an estimated sale price of £4,500, also includes a piece of a broken plectrum used by Paul McCartney.

Seller Julian Dennis, said it was time to pass on the “fascinating keepsake”, with the Fab Four’s 60-year-old signatures, and much more.

“I was, and still am, a massive Beatles fan and their music has accompanied me throughout my life,” he said.

His book also features a personal message from Beatles’ road manager Mal Evans.

The book belonged to Mr Dennis’s wife at the time, Louisa Walne, who got the autographs when she saw The Beatles at De Montfort Hall, Leicester, in 1964.

Ms Walne, who was then at nursing school in Birmingham, sadly died at the age of 24 because of a blood clot.

“With last year’s poignant final single, Now And Then, plus the enduring popularity of Peter Jackson’s Get Back, The Beatles remain an enduring presence in all our lives.”

The auction will take place at The Lichfield Auction Centre on 22 January.
